new york, legislator, hit and run
The following is from the St. Lawrence County Legislator Daniel J. Girard for being involved in a hit and run accident Monday night.
I am sorry. I owe many people an apology. I chose to be a Legislator out of a sense of faithfulness and service, but my decisions on Monday, September 21st did not live up to the faith I want to display and serve with. I hope that anyone who sees this apology finds it sincere because I am sorry, not because of the publicity or the criticism. I am sorry because I was wrong.
Everyday, I tell kids that choices come with consequences. I'll accept the consequences that come from my choices. I didn't take responsibility as I should have at first, but the last thing I will do is take responsibility.
I apologize to my wife and all of my family. They have been proud and supportive of me and do not deserve the embarrassment that comes with headlines, questions, and comments that they are now required to address. Thank you for standing with me now.
